First of all, I would like to share you one of my favorite weekly journals in Western Culture class.

It's about . . .

the 16^th unforgettable president of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln.

Lincoln was a hero, a model, and an icon of Americans.

He was the first man, who showed to the world the idea of liberty,

freedom, and equality. He was a common guy and not rich.

He really understood the value of money. He was one of the presidents

who didn’t graduate from the university. He could show that

the greatness did not come from only the degree.

He was a great president because he was enthusiastic

and self-confident with a great vision.

Lincoln started his political career by being an Illinois general assembly.

Then he worked step by step and was elected to be the president because

of his new and different ideology. Lincoln was challenged by the people

because he was elected while the terrible civil war. One reason why the

civil war became worse was because Lincoln had a policy of the abolition of slavery.

The abolition of slavery was a disaster of the south of America because at that time

the south of America seemed to be a slave state. There were many and many slaves.

Lincoln’s policy could make a huge damage to the south’s economy.

Lincoln, who shouldered the responsibility to make America being a union,

could manage the problem successfully.

Lincoln was the first man who was bold to speak to the nation

that black people should had the rights as white people had.

He believed in the humanity of man. Lincoln was a model of good politician.

He really worked hard and he could hand with the diatribe finely by his humor.

Lincoln was censured that he was two-faced. He should be very angry but he didn’t.

He answered with the humor that if he really had two faces why he didn’t show

the face which was more handsome than now to the public. Lincoln was a generous

and open-minded man too. He allowed members of the opposition party

to be his secretary and his advisors. Lincoln said that destroy your enemy

by make him friend. I like his action. It seemed to be that he gave precedence

to people’s problems more than political competition. Lincoln was called a founding father of America.

He founded peace and charity. The policy of Lincoln which I like the most is giving

all people equal chances. Lincoln believed that the low or the middle class

people should have chances to be rich. Liberalism should not limit with the capital.

Sometimes, the good die young. Lincoln was assassinated.

That was a loss of the great president of America.

Lincoln was a model. He could prove that even he

didn’t have lots of money nor the degree from the university,

he could make his dream come true.
